Peshawar’s residents receive clean water and sanitation services from the WSSP. The WSSP was established in 1994 under the Local Government Act, 1992.

WSSP has developed a five-year strategic plan for 2012-2016 that outlines objectives and strategies to achieve its vision. There are two main departments in the WSSP: the Operations Department and the Engineering Department. The WSSP has been working hard to improve the water and sanitation system in the city. Progress has been made on this front. More work remains, however. The WSSP has undertaken a number of key projects, including the construction of new water treatment plants, the rehabilitation of water supply schemes, and the installation of new sanitation facilities
